"Found some beta that makes this thing go static today. Makes it slightly easier if you can establish by properly pulling up and holding the start crimps, then bring your foot up to almost head level. The toss is alot more fun though. "

DylinC added a new problem: Danimal

Stats: v10,
Description
The start of this problem is located between stretch armstrong and red spark. Start with a left hand incut and a right hand pinch. Make some stretched out pulls up and right to finish directly over a looming rock.

"here is the stuff we used. http://www.homedepot.com/buy/cleaning/pressure-washers/motsenbocker-s-lift-off/1-gal-4-spray-paint-graffiti-remover-65764.html

like i said, doesnt work great on metallics, but the standard colors came off great.

acetone might be better for metallics if used sparingly. it evaporates quick so isnt as much of a hazard to use outside... just vapor basically.

"theres an non toxic spraypaint remover that you can buy from lowes or home depot. its in a spray bottle for 8 bucks. sprayed it liberally on the paint, wait a few minutes till it starts to peel up and scraped it off with wire brushes. leaves it slightly stained still, and doesnt work well on metallic colors, but definitely brought the rock back. Mbrady added a new problem: East Side Story

Stats: v3.5,
Description
Starts from the left off a slab/ramp. Traverse on good crimps and slopers up and right to the center of the boulder. Make a huge committing move to small but good holds. A few more chill moves will reach the lip. Good stone, amazing movement, and very tall. The landing is deep gravel but there is a large boulder that is possible to hit. Long overlooked, only saw its first ascent a few years ago.

Mbrady added a new problem: Black Magic

Stats: v3,
Description
Fun technical climbing that takes you off the deck. The rock can feel a bit sub par but is generally of good quality. Tall, fun, and a bit scary.

Horrible fall if you pitched of the crux up top. Oh yeah...horrible rock too. Three fluttering hearts in the guidebook.

Mbrady added a new problem: Corner

Stats: v0,
Description
On the corner boulder which is above slowdance. Easy movement all the way through. Climbs the left side of the boulder via the crack in the corner. Great tall problem for the fledgling highball-ist.

Super fun and easy movement gets you fairly high off the deck pretty quick. Gets a fluttering heart with its height and rocky landing

Mbrady added a new problem: My Heart Grew Wings...

Stats: v3,
Description
To the right of Wills' Arete. Climbs fairly difficult pockets directly into the huge but hallow hueco. After cautiously passing the hueco climb past a ledge and into even more scary rock. Tall with horrible stone on top what more could you ask for?

Posted 3 weeks ago in:
Sierras > Bishop > Happy Boulders > Desert Skies >
Mbrady added a new problem: Wills' Arete

Stats: v5,
Description
Left arete on the buttress just to the right of Mr. Witty. Quality stone on all but the last 6 feet. Starts to the right of the arete. With fun movement bringing you to the arete. Once on the arete make a big move to gain a good left hand sidepull up high. Kind of surprised it does not get a fluttering heart as the line is kinda tall with kinda insecure rock on top.

Posted 3 weeks ago in:
Sierras > Bishop > Happy Boulders > Desert Skies >

High quality stone with very fun technical movement. Super small holds. The last move feels improbable.

Derrick, know this response is late on a dead forum, but....Theres actually quite a bit of lesser known rock around temecula. Some is great, some is crap. I grew up there, and started climbing by hiking around the hills in the area (no gyms at the time). Some non-poaching spots (aka you wont get chased out of, cuz theres a few of those) you could hit up are the roadsides in rainbow, the Leon rocks and the Newport rocks in Menifee, Simpson park in hemet (and tank rock) steele valley in...

What do you guys think....I'd like for us to re-purpose the website to encompass SoCal and Bishop/Yosemite only i.e. let's get rid of Squamish and the rest of NorCal. We're not a significant source of information about those areas anyway, mainly because I don't think many of us frequent those places on a regular basis. From what I can tell people who contribute to this site are primarily SoCal climbers who tend to frequent Bishop (I would even question Yosemite). This way we provide visitors...

Thanks for the offer. I want to keep consistency by using the same camera throughout, but I could definitely use your help with audio or crane operation. It would be nice to just have another person on set that knows the area. Send me your email or phone number and I can let you know each time we go and hopefully we can meet up. I know this weekend we're going to try and at least do one a.m shoot if not more.

Hey Everyone,Just an update...So far the rangers are pleased with most of the cooperation they are getting this summer season. Very cool stuff and I'm glad to hear we're keeping things going in the right direction. However, it is equally important to maintain a good relationship with not just the park rangers, but also the staff who run the PS Aerial Tramway. I ran into some issues with the parking lot coordinator this weekend and was somewhat displeased when I asked if there were parking spots...
