Description

Sequence 6
Snowblind is an amazing problem that climbs an interesting series of incut sidepulls across a beautiful wave of steel blue granite. This recent addition to Tram was added by Don James, and was aptly named as Don eeked out the FA just as the area was starting to get dusted over with snow.

Sit start at jugs on the right corner of the granite wave. Pull onto a giant flake and head left. Big moves from the flake lead to a rad set of thin incut sidepulls and a cruxy reach at the lip. Finish up a lieback corner on the upper headwall. The climb is about 14ft. tall with a slight potential for colliding with a tree - rTm

Why does nobody climb this thing? Vanishing Point gets all the attention, but this is just as good, if not better than VP. And Lindner's beta is freakin hard!

Totally agree. I did the second ascent, and have always thought that it was the best V8 at the Tram. More pure line than VP. BTW Chris's beta is crazy! We didn't do that sick gaston. Just jump for the finishing hold.

My guess is for 2 reasons... one good and one bad

BAD- This thing feels solid 8. VP feels soft 8 (maybe) and its given a 9. People can do math (barely), so (unfortunately) they choose the gimme grade over the one they have to work for...

GOOD- Snow blind is the purer line, BUT VP climbs the better rock. The rock on VP is less agressive and almost like some of the patina at the Milks and the slopers (while incredibly HOT ALL THE TIME) are pretty sweet. The holds on Snow Blind feel more like typical Tram holds (not that its a bad thing. VP also feels more consistent (although that consistency makes it feel WAY easier if you have some power end. and you can climb through sweat...)

I did the first ascent of the moves getting to the lip, does that count for anything?

No. However I do believe you were the one who first envisioned the line, and that definitely counts.

can I get some extra points for it on my scorecard?
