The starting hold flexes pretty bad

is it just me, or does this feel harder than seven spanish angels and about as hard as High Plains Drifter?

I would say both those problems feel harder. Could just be me though.

I agree, but this problem doesn't seem sandbagged. Drifter is just very soft for it's grade.

Well that's the subjectivity in grades I guess. I always thought High Plains was considered pretty much the V7 standard for the area.

Which is subjective, too -- even in mass. :) If I remember my history, Sherman referred to HPD as the v6 standard. (I personally thought it harder than SSA)

firstly, hah.

secondly, i just realized (i'm taking biological anthropology) that some individuals have a Palmaris Muscle and some don't, which is a remanent from man's evolution-we came from tree climbers; either way, the point is that having that muscle would probably make an individual a better climber without ever realizing it and also greatly change the subjectivity of a problem... just think about it, some of us actually have an extra muscle for climbing.

either way, i think as a whole, the categories of what a v4 or a v6 is have become more narrow as our number system has expanded, and sometimes, people just sand bagged the shit out of a problem because somebody else did.. knowingly or not.

This problem used to be underground, then somebody completely dug it out.

Someone told me that locals don't want people starting on the lower hold anymore because it flexes so much, and that starting on the next jug in retains the grade....but if you ask Wills he'll just say it's STILL subjective and unique to the individual's experience i.e. grade it however, just don't break the hold. =^)
